Materials

What is Foamnasium® made of?

You can read about the materials used in Foamnasium® here.

The Fabric

Every piece of fabric used in our covers is tested to be strong, easy to clean, and flame retardant without the use of FR Chemicals. Whether it is our Timeless Classic Fabric Line or our Rough & Tumble Fabric Line, it is tested and accredited to ensure that it is both lead-free and phthalate-free, ensuring a safe environment for children.

The Foam

All of our foam is made in the USA, CertiPUR-US certified, and completely fabricated at our facility in Greenfield, IN. We use foam with a density of 1.5lbs/cubic foot (how heavy it is relates to durability) and an IFD of 50 (this refers to the firmness of the foam). That means it’s the same density as most foam cores that come in bed-in-a box mattress, providing children with great support during building and climbing.

Where is Foamnasium® made?

Foamnasium is proudly made in the USA.

Most of the fabric Foamnasium® uses for covers is made in Connecticut and the foam is made and fabricated in Indiana. Unlike any other foam playset you’ll find, we cut and sew every piece of Foamnasium right here in our facility in Greenfield, Indiana.

Has Foamnasium® changed over time?

Yes! We're always finding ways to improve Foamnasium!

•Originally back in 2010, Foamnasium® was only available in primary colors. In 2017, we began adding more options to help playsets fit your home with the launch of Baby Blue, Gull Gray, Mint and White.

•We raised the density in each and every piece from a 35IFD to a 50IFD in 2019.

•We enhanced our sewing design of necessary pieces to add strength and durability in January of 2020.

•We achieved Greenguard Gold Certified status in 2020.

•We worked extensively in 2020 with our vinyl manufacturer to increase the quality of our vinyl, it’s the best it’s ever been!

• We introduced the Enhanced fabric options in 2021. They are more durable, more cleanable, and more comfortable than the traditional vinyl.

• In 2024 we introduced our best fabric line yet, Rough & Tumble. Made to withstand whatever life- or your little ones- throw at you. Durable, comfortable, and well designed!

•The Color Lab was created in 2024, using the same high quality Rough & Tumble Fabrics while adding a unique feature! With The Color Lab you can mix, match, and make Foamnasium yours by custom designing the colors of your product to match your unique style.

•More new and exciting things to come for Foamnasium®!

Does Foamnasium® contain Fire Retardants?

No. Foamnasium® meets the flammability requirements of the California Bureau of Home Furnishings Technical Bulletin 117-2013, without using any Flame Retardant Chemicals.

Are the covers easy to take off and put back on?

We think so! To get a better idea, check out our assembly video. Once assembled, there shouldn’t be a need to remove your Foamnasium® covers. Unless, of course, you've decided you want to change your covers for a different look.

How do I assemble Foamnasium®?

Check out our assembly page to watch a helpful video on how to put the covers on your foam.

Helpful Tips:

•Most covers come inside out (it makes stuffing easier)!

•Locate the zipper first to “open up” the cover.

•Line up the seams to the edges and corners of your foam.

•Take the time to “iron” your Foamnasium® as directed in the video.

Cleaning and Care

How do I clean my Foamnasium®?

We’ve designed Foamnasium® to be simple and easy to care for, with both kids and parents in mind!

•Spills or sticky spots: Clean the surface in a circular motion with liquid hand (pH neutral) soap and water. Wipe off the excess soap with a clean damp cloth and let it dry.

•Hard-to-clean spots: Use standard, household cleaners, a soft-bristles brush, and gentle agitation on any troublesome areas.

•Disinfecting: Phenolic disinfectants are the best choice for disinfecting the covers.

•Do not machine wash: We do not recommend removing Foamnasium covers. Do not machine wash or dry, this could shrink or damage the cover.

Remember, light colors need more care, more often.

My cover has a few wrinkles, can I iron it?

Yes! Occasionally, wrinkles may appear in the fabric after unboxing and assembly. This is normal and will typically smooth out over time with play. However, if you want smoother covers right away, watch this video on how to iron your Foamnasium®.

Is Foamnasium® waterproof?

Foamnasium® is water resistant but not waterproof. All spills should be wiped up promptly, and stains may occur with sauces and colored drinks.

Can I leave my Foamnasium® outside?

Foamnasium® is created and intended for indoor use only. Play outside at your own risk.
